Mistlite patterned glass—also known as figured glass, rolled glass, satinlite glass, or texture glass—is a decorative flat glass produced through the rolling process. During manufacturing, molten glass is passed between two water-cooled metal rollers. One roller is engraved with the Mistlite pattern, which imprints the design onto the surface of the semi-molten glass. The result is a glass sheet with a distinctive fine, mist-like texture on one side and a smooth surface on the reverse.
The name 'Mistlite' reflects the glass's unique visual character—a soft, misty, diffused appearance that resembles a light fog or satin finish. This subtle, uniform dot-like or frosted texture provides excellent light diffusion while maintaining high transparency. Unlike surface coatings or films, the Mistlite pattern is physically embossed into the glass surface—making it permanent and resistant to wear, fading, or peeling.
Mistlite patterned glass is manufactured using the rolled glass process:
Performance values based on clear Mistlite patterned glass. Values may vary slightly by thickness and production batch. Colored glass (bronze, blue, green, gray) will have lower VLT depending on the tint density.

Q1: What is the difference between Mistlite patterned glass and other patterned glass patterns?
A: Mistlite patterned glass features a fine, diffused mist-like texture (also known as satinlite or pinprick pattern) that creates a soft, uniform frosted appearance. It is one of three distinctive Texture Glass patterns offered by Pilkington, alongside Nashiji™ and Karatachi™. Other popular patterns include Flora, Diamond, May Flower, and Millennium. Mistlite is particularly valued for its superior light diffusion and reduced glare, making it ideal for applications where soft, diffused light is desired.
Q2: What is the visible light transmittance of Mistlite patterned glass and can it be tempered?
A: Clear Mistlite patterned glass delivers visible light transmittance (VLT) of up to 91.6%, with solar transmittance reaching 92%. Colored variants (bronze, blue, green, gray) will have lower VLT depending on the tint density. Yes, KINGSTAR BUILDING GLASS Mistlite patterned glass is fully compatible with tempering (EN 12150), laminating (EN ISO 12543), and insulating glass unit fabrication. When tempered, it offers excellent resistance to hail, wind loads, thermal shock, and UV degradation over 25+ years. The pattern is permanently embossed into the glass surface and will not be affected by the tempering process.
Q3: What thicknesses, sizes, and colors are available for Mistlite patterned glass?
A: KINGSTAR BUILDING GLASS Mistlite patterned glass is available in thicknesses from 2mm to 19mm, with 3.2mm, 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm being the most common. Standard sizes include 1220×1830mm, 1500×2000mm, 1524×2134mm, 1830×2134mm, 1830×2440mm, 2000×2440mm, and 2140×3300mm. Colors are available in clear, ultra-clear low-iron, bronze, blue, green, and gray. Custom sizes can be produced to meet specific project requirements.
