Important Processing Limitations
For standard lacquered painted glass:
- Tempering is not compatible. The organic coating decomposes and carbonizes at the high temperatures required for tempering (approximately 600 degrees Celsius and above). The coating will burn, discolor, bubble, and lose adhesion.
- All cutting, drilling, edge grinding, and notching must be completed before the lacquer coating is applied, as no further fabrication is possible after painting.
- For safety glass requirements, glass must be tempered before painting, or heat-treated painted glass (with temperable paint) must be used instead.
