KINGSTAR GLASS

Tempered Glass Cutting Board | Durable Kitchen Chopping Board with Heat and Scratch Resistance from KINGSTAR BUILDING GLASS

KINGSTAR BUILDING GLASS Tempered Glass Cutting Board is a durable and hygienic kitchen accessory manufactured from high-quality float glass through a thermal tempering process. The tempering process subjects the glass to approximately 700°C followed by rapid cooling, creating compressive stress on the surface that results in glass approximately four to five times stronger than standard annealed glass. This construction provides exceptional resistance to scratches, heat, and impact, making it ide

What is a Tempered Glass Cutting Board?

A tempered glass cutting board is a kitchen preparation surface manufactured from thermally tempered float glass. Unlike traditional wooden or plastic cutting boards, glass cutting boards offer a non-porous, hygienic surface that does not absorb odors, stains, or bacteria. The thermal tempering process enhances the strength of the glass, making it resistant to cracks, chips, and shattering under normal use.

Tempered glass cutting boards serve a dual purpose: they function as a practical food preparation surface and, with their smooth, attractive appearance, can double as serving boards or countertop protectors. The non-porous surface does not harbor bacteria and is easy to sanitize, making it a preferred choice in environments where food safety is a priority.

Key Features

  • High strength: Tempered glass offers approximately four to five times the strength of standard annealed glass.
  • Heat resistance: Withstands temperatures up to 204°C (400°F).
  • Scratch resistance: Hard glass surface resists knife marks and scratches.
  • Shatter resistance: Tempered construction provides enhanced impact resistance.
  • Non-porous surface: Does not absorb odors, stains, or bacteria.
  • Easy to clean: Smooth surface wipes clean easily; dishwasher safe.
  • Non-slip stability: Equipped with rubber or silicone feet to prevent movement during use.
  • Hygienic: Does not harbor bacteria or absorb food odors.
  • Versatile use: Suitable for food preparation, serving, and as a countertop heat protector.

Important Considerations

Glass cutting boards are harder than knife blades. As a result, the board surface will not be scratched by knives, but the knives will dull more quickly compared to use on wood or plastic boards. This is a characteristic of glass cutting boards rather than a defect. For users who prefer to maintain razor-sharp knife edges, wood or plastic boards are recommended. Glass cutting boards are best suited for tasks where hygiene and easy cleaning are prioritized over knife edge retention.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: What thickness of tempered glass cutting board is recommended?
A: The most common thickness for glass cutting boards is 3mm to 5mm. Thicker glass (5mm to 8mm) offers greater durability and is recommended for heavy-duty commercial use. Thinner glass (3mm to 4mm) is suitable for residential use and lighter food preparation tasks. The choice depends on the intended application and frequency of use.

Q2: Can tempered glass cutting boards be used as trivets for hot pots and pans?
A: Yes. Tempered glass cutting boards are heat resistant up to 204°C (400°F), making them suitable for use as trivets to protect countertops from hot pots and pans. However, direct contact with open flames or extreme temperature changes should be avoided.

Q3: What safety standards do KINGSTAR BUILDING GLASS tempered glass cutting boards comply with?
A: KINGSTAR BUILDING GLASS tempered glass cutting boards comply with EN 12150 (European standard for thermally toughened safety glass), BS 6206 (British standard for impact-resistant glazing), and AS/NZS 2208:1996 (Australian/New Zealand standard for safety glazing materials). CE certification is available upon request.

Tempered or toughened glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the interior into tension. Such stresses cause the glass, when broken, to shatter into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards as ordinary annealed glass does. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury.

No tong marks on the glass as adopts the horizontally tempering process.

5 times harder than ordinary annealed glass.

Once breakage occurs, the glass disintegrates into small cubical fragments which are relatively armless to human body.

It withstands abrupt change of temperature. For example, a piece of 5mm tolerate the temperature variations within the range of 200°C.

Tempered glass should under go heat soak test to improve safety in use.

Thickness: 3-19mm

Size: Min size 300*200mm,Max size 3300*15000mm

Tempered glass is used for its safety and strength in a variety of applications, including passenger vehicle windows, shower doors, aquariums, architectural glass doors and tables, refrigerator trays, mobile phone screen protectors, bulletproof glass components, diving masks, and plates and cookware.
