Tempered or toughened glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the interior into tension. Such stresses cause the glass, when broken, to shatter into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards as ordinary annealed glass does. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury.
No tong marks on the glass as adopts the horizontally tempering process.
5 times harder than ordinary annealed glass.
Once breakage occurs, the glass disintegrates into small cubical fragments which are relatively armless to human body.
It withstands abrupt change of temperature. For example, a piece of 5mm tolerate the temperature variations within the range of 200°C.
Tempered glass should under go heat soak test to improve safety in use.
Thickness: 3-19mm
Size: Min size 300*200mm,Max size 3300*15000mm
Tempered glass is used for its safety and strength in a variety of applications, including passenger vehicle windows, shower doors, aquariums, architectural glass doors and tables, refrigerator trays, mobile phone screen protectors, bulletproof glass components, diving masks, and plates and cookware.
When safety and strength are essential, KINGSTAR BUILDING GLASS's Tempered Glass is the proven solution. Produced through a controlled process of extreme heating and rapid cooling, our tempered glass is four to five times stronger than standard annealed glass of the same thickness. It is a fundamental component for modern construction, trusted by contractors and distributors worldwide for its reliability and performance.
Addressing Your Core Concerns as a Glass Importer:
How can I be sure your tempered glass meets quality and safety standards?
We understand that product quality is directly tied to your reputation. Our Tempered Glass is manufactured in strict compliance with global safety standards like EN 12150 and ANSI Z97.1. Each pane undergoes a rigorous quality control process to ensure it meets requirements for strength, flatness, and fragmentation. Upon breakage, it shatters into small, dull-edged pieces, significantly reducing the risk of serious injury. This makes it a certified 'safety glass' you can supply with full confidence.
What are the processing capabilities and limitations I should know about?
Your processing needs are a key consideration. It's important to note that all fabrication (cutting, drilling, edge-working) must be completed before the tempering process. Once a piece of glass is tempered, it cannot be altered. We provide high-precision, pre-tempering fabrication based on your exact drawings and specifications. This ensures the final product arrives at your warehouse ready for installation, saving you time and eliminating processing risks on your end.
Why should I source tempered glass from you instead of a local supplier?
As a specialized glass exporter, we offer two key advantages: cost-effectiveness at scale and consistent quality. Our large-scale production capabilities allow us to offer competitive pricing for bulk orders, which is crucial for your wholesale business. Furthermore, our dedicated export team ensures professional packing in sturdy, seaworthy wooden crates and reliable logistics, guaranteeing that your order arrives safely and on schedule. This combination of price, quality, and service makes us a superior long-term partner.

FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between tempered glass and heat-strengthened glass?
A1: Both are heated and cooled, but heat-strengthened glass is cooled more slowly. It is about twice as strong as standard glass (tempered is 4-5 times stronger). Its breakage pattern is also different; it breaks into larger pieces that tend to stay in the frame, making it suitable for applications where falling glass is a concern, like in high-rise buildings.
Q2: Can tempered glass be used in any application?
A2: Tempered glass is extremely versatile but is not recommended for applications where post-breakage integrity is required, such as in overhead skylights or certain balustrades. In those cases, Laminated Glass (or laminated tempered glass) is the appropriate choice, as it will remain in one piece if broken.
Q3: What is 'spontaneous breakage' and how do you mitigate it?
A3: Spontaneous breakage is a rare phenomenon caused by nickel sulfide (NiS) inclusions in the glass. To minimize this risk for critical applications, we can perform a 'Heat Soak Test' (HST). This is a destructive test that heats the tempered glass for several hours, forcing any panes with NiS inclusions to break in our factory, not at the project site.
